For as long as she can remember, Ella May Thomas has been surrounded by music in her Suffolk household – her Dad playing jazz piano and her Mum’s collection of soul records. Ella, named after Ella Fitzgerald, creates dreamy, neo-psychedelic indie-pop with hip hop grooves and escapist jazz melodies. Producing all of her own work, she lists the boom bap sound of A Tribe Called Quest, the psychedelic-rock of The Zombies and the summery tones of Minnie Riperton as influences. Her music has been featured as the ‘Showcase Song’ of the week on BBC Introducing in the West, as well as being reviewed on Music Republic Magazine’s ‘Undiscovered Zone’. After releasing two singles, ‘Chewing Gum’ and ‘The Days Untold’, she is currently recording an EP set for release later this year.
